Major projects

  • advising one of the largest US film producers on the production of a TV series in the Czech Republic, including Czech film incentives (approx. USD 36 million)
  • advising a UK co-production group on financing a TV series production in the Czech Republic and utilising Czech film incentives (approx. USD 30 million)
  • advising a UK-Czech-French co-production on contractual arrangements in respect of a historic film production in the Czech Republic, including Czech film incentives (approx. USD 7 million of local production costs)
  • advising a US producer on a contemplated stop-motion feature movie with regards to local conditions for obtaining Czech film incentives (originally planned production costs over USD 35 million)
  • advising a British television on contractual arrangements with a Czech co-producer structured in order to benefit from Czech film incentives


altRobert Nešpůrek is a head of the firm’s Commercial Group and specialises in commercial contracts and dispute resolution (including arbitration), information technology law, intellectual property, competition law and EU law. He has been regularly advising foreign media companies in connection with film production in the Czech Republic. In 2008, Robert was nominated as one of the three best Czech lawyers in the field of intellectual property law in the Lawyer of the Year competition. Robert is further recommended by leading directories Chambers Europe, the Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal.

altJan Diblík specialises in media, technology, telecommunications, contract law and M&A. In media law, Jan advises clients on unfair competition, advertising, and television and radio broadcasting regulation. In telecommunications and internet technologies, he has advised multinational companies on their entry into the Czech market. Prior to joining HAVEL & PARTNERS, Jan worked at a leading Czech law firm, at French law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel and British law firm Linklaters. Together with Robert Nešpůrek, Jan co-leads the firm’s media law specialization group being ranked in TIER 1 according to Media Law International.

altPetr Bratský specialises in the law of contract, intellectual property, media, EU law and legislative process. He has advised on contractual issues concerning digital televisions and content agreements. Further, Petr regularly advises on data protection compliance, audiovision, consumer related issues and customer-supplier agreements. Prior to joining HAVEL & PARTNERS, Petr worked inter alia as legal advisor to a Member of the European Parliament on the revision of the Audiovisual Media Services Directive.
